Dive Day Instructions
Meet at 8:30 AM
We meet at the El Dorado restaurant just west of Royal City on Highway 26 (8961 WA-26, Royal City, WA 99357). If you want breakfast there, arrive earlier — we meet in the parking lot at 8:30 and caravan to the site, about 4 miles away.
Arrival & Setup
Follow our dive leader to the silo parking area. There is plenty of parking — just use common sense. Bring your 2nd tank to the entrance and we'll lower it to the ready room while you set up gear in our building, which has benches for initial setup. Each diver gets a bucket for loose items to be lowered down.
Briefing & Descent to Ready Room
After the surface briefing, we move gear and divers down to the ready room — a 30-foot walk and 10-foot ladder. Divers can carry gear down on their backs or have it lowered. More benches in the ready room for final prep.
Dive 1: Launcher 3 & Equipment Terminal
Fins and cameras go on our kayak, then we walk in waist-to-chest deep water down the tunnels (about 150 yards) with various obstacles called out along the way. No rush. At the junction of the launcher and equipment terminal, we put on fins, make final adjustments, and surface kick down a short corridor to Launcher 3 (about 105 feet deep). After 25–30 minutes, the group moves around the corner into Equipment Terminal 3, about 30 feet deep with plenty of overhead. Two full levels are completely underwater; we enter on level 3. Once tanks are down to 500–700 PSI, the group heads back to the ready room.
Surface Interval: BBQ Lunch
Back topside, we have a BBQ lunch, outgas, and switch tanks before heading back down for the second dive.
Dive 2: Launcher 2
Launcher 2 is slightly deeper (110 feet) and has a cooler entry than Launcher 3. We do not dive the equipment terminal on this one.
Wrap-Up & Dry-Side Tour
Back at the surface, break down gear and load up. We tour the dry side of the complex, following our guide to another entrance. Keep a light handy for the dry-side tour.
Plan for a full day. Depending on the group's pace, the day can take anywhere from 5 to 10 hours. We typically wrap up around 5:00 PM. We also bring long and short sleeve t-shirts and hoodies for purchase at the site if you're interested.
