Dive Day Instructions:
The dive day starts at 8:30 am. We meet at the El Dorado restaurant just west of Royal City on Highway 26 (8961 WA-26, Royal City, WA 99357). If you want to have breakfast there, you need to get there earlier, as we just meet in the parking lot at 8:30 and caravan over to the site from there. The actual site is about 4 miles from the restaurant.
You will follow our dive leader down to the silo parking area. There is plenty of parking, but use common sense.
We will have you get your 2nd tank to the entrance and we will lower it to the ready room while you are getting ready up top. We have a building with benches where all the initial setup can be done. Each diver will have a bucket to put their loose items in to be lowered down to the ready room.
We will do the briefing on the surface, then start moving the gear and divers down to the ready room. It is a 30 foot walk and 10 foot ladder to the ready room where there are more benches. Divers can carry their gear down on their backs or we can lower them down.
After all the final prep is done we will load up fins and cameras onto our kayak and start the trek to the launcher for dive 1.
We walk in waist-to-chest deep water down the tunnels, about 150 yards. There are various obstacles along the way that we call out. We are not in a rush. Once we are back to the junction of the launcher and equipment terminal, we put on the fins, get final adjustments done, and surface kick down a short corridor to the launcher. The first launcher is #3 and is about 105 feet deep. After about 25-30 minutes, we go as a group around the corner into the equipment terminal and dive that. It is about 30 feet deep but has plenty of overhead if you leave the center of the room on either level (2 full levels are completely underwater, we enter on level 3)
Once we burn the tanks down to 500-700, we all head back as a group to the ready room.
Once up topside again, we have a BBQ lunch, outgas, etc, then switch tanks and head back to dive launcher 2. Launcher 2 is a little bit deeper (110) and has a cooler entry than launcher 3. We do not do the equipment terminal dive for Launcher 2.
Once back at the surface, we break down the gear, load up and tour the dry side of the complex, following our guide to another entrance. Make sure you keep lights available for the dry side tour.
The day can take 5 hours, or it could take 10 hours, depending on the speed of the group and if they are in a hurry or taking their time. Typically we are rolling out at about 5:00 or so.
We have some cool long and short sleeve t-shirts and hoodies available for purchase also which we will bring up to the site if any of your divers are interested.
